The Great North
The Great North is a multi-day journey through Vietnam’s most iconic northern landscapes — from the energy of Hanoi to the limestone valleys of Ninh Binh, an overnight cruise through Ha Long Bay, and finally the legendary roads of the Ha Giang Loop. This trip is designed to balance culture, scenery, and adventure, with comfortable pacing and small-group experiences throughout.
Day 1 – Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi and meet your group. The journey begins with a welcome dinner, giving everyone a chance to settle in, get to know each other, and ease into the trip. After dinner, enjoy a relaxed evening in the city before resting up for the days ahead.
Day 2 – Hanoi → Ninh Binh
Start the day with breakfast before exploring some of Hanoi’s highlights, including historic sites and local neighborhoods. You’ll experience the city’s street life and food culture before heading south by bus to Ninh Binh. Arrive in the countryside and check into your hotel in the Tam Coc area, surrounded by rice fields and limestone cliffs.
Day 3 – Ninh Binh
Today is all about nature. Explore Ninh Binh’s famous waterways with a scenic boat ride through caves and river tunnels, followed by time to hike to a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding landscape. After lunch, enjoy a relaxed afternoon and evening in the peaceful countryside.
Day 4 – Ninh Binh → Ha Long Bay (Overnight Boat)
After breakfast, travel from Ninh Binh to Ha Long Bay. Board a traditional junk boat and spend the afternoon cruising among limestone karsts, with time to relax on deck and take in the scenery. Dinner is served onboard, and you’ll spend the night sleeping on the boat — a memorable experience and a highlight of the trip.
Day 5 – Ha Long Bay → Ha Giang
Wake up on the water and enjoy breakfast as the boat continues through Ha Long Bay. After disembarking, travel by private van toward Ha Giang. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, check into a local homestay, and enjoy dinner before resting ahead of the loop.
Days 6–9 – Ha Giang Loop
The final and main chapter of the journey takes you deep into northern Vietnam’s mountains on the Ha Giang Loop. Over four days, you’ll ride through dramatic passes, remote villages, and some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country. Expect a mix of riding, viewpoints, local food, and authentic homestay experiences.
The loop finishes around 5:00 PM on Day 9, followed by an evening bus back to Hanoi at approximately 7:00 PM, marking the end of the trip.
